Born in Moldova and raised in the country of Georgia, Violetta became addicted to fashion along with her sister Viorikka when her grandmother taught the twins how to crochet at the age of six. Violetta quickly realized that fashion was her true love and she began to expand her interests to include crocheting clothing. Following studies in languages at Moldova State University in Chisinau, she became an English teacher and translator while continuing to develop her passion for design and natural talent for fabric manipulation.

 

In 2003 Violetta won Second Prize at the International Fashion Festival in Moldova and was invited to Lyon, France to present her crochet collection. She later attained a Master’s Degree in Creative Draping and Patternmaking at the École Supérieure des Arts et Techniques de la Mode in Paris (ESMOD), and acquired experience in working with precious fabrics and materials through internships at various couture houses in Paris including Dupré-Santabarbara, Lefranc-Ferrant, and Baghère.

 

Violetta is now the owner of the French Couture Design Studio, which runs VioGemini couture label where Violetta draws on her extensive knowledge of couture craftsmanship and a natural ability to mix materials and textures to create distinctive and dramatic designs.
